Test Method: D6371
Baths for manual cold filter plugging point (CFPP) testing
• Conform to D6371 (also ASTM D97, D2500, and IP309)
• Temperature Stability of 0.5º C
• Dry Bath not requiring Liquid Bath Medium
• Lowest Temperature of -35º C or -70º C
• Achieves Test Bath Temerature in 2 Minutes
• Digital Control to 0.1º C Resolution

For manual CFPP testing, Lawler uniquely offers a dry bath we call Direct Refrigeration, or DR technology. The metal test jacket is cooled directly by the refrigerant, thus replacing the middle step of first cooling the flammable alcohol bath medium used in liquid baths. We offer them in one or two sample models with choice for lowest temperature of -34°C and -70°C.

In cases when there are large numbers of samples to run then a liquid baths can have higher sample capacity. Please review our available liquid baths suitable for CFPP. Note: CFPP-2 kit would be required to convert for each liquid bath port from cloud/pour to CFPP”

Model DR-2L has two independently controlled test positions fully conforming to the dimensional specifications of the method. Each position accepts one CFPP test assembly (or a pour/cloud point test tube). Each bath temperature is controlled by an digital indicating PID controller with 0.1°C resolution. Bath stability is better than ±0.5°C specified by the test method. The test cup is cooled by direct refrigeration thus eliminating the need for a liquid bath medium.

The bath achieves test temperature quickly (2 minutes) from ambient. The bath may be also rapidly changed to the next lowest temperature of -51°C (and -69°C) if so required. Each bath temperature may be set independently of the other.

Model DR-2H is identical to Model CF-2L with the exception that the lowest bath temperature is -35°C. This is temperature is sufficient to meet the test requirements for the vast majority of commercial fuels.

Model DR-4H is identical to Model CF-2H with the exception of having four test positions.

Model DR-1L is identical to Model CF-2L with the exception of only having one test position.

Model DR-1H is identical to Model CF-2H with the exception that of only having one test position.
